Summer wind down..

Summer is on it's way, and as you'd expect, a lot of members are spending less time playing, and more time sunning!

We'll do our very best to set up regular Raids through the sunny season, but we're bound to get quiet weekends.

Please, please, only except an invitation as 'Accepted' if you're definately coming to a raid! If you want to be on standby please set it such, or ask one of the leaders to do it for you ;)

Just as we did last year, we'll kick off with renewed zeal once again in the near future I'm sure of it ^_^

If we can take the first two with relative ease, we can smash all four.. You know it ^_^

Ulduar - Cracking the crust...

Casually, a motley crew of 10 decended on the gates of Ulduar last night.
Flasks? PAH! ... Planning? Who needs it?
We trounsed the Flame Leviathan without a care on the second attempt in true Still Alive fasion :)

Did we wipe our brows in relief and cut our losses? Oh dear me no!
We then moved on to Razorscale, and gave him a right old seeing too aswell.
First go was a washout.. second was a marked improvement (ie a success! lol)

Many, many thanks to our sage on this trip, Chels, without who we wouldnt have known where to start, yet now we know two bosses! :D

We'll be happy to take you along to future Razorscale's spaceifically for the trinket. I know you wanted it but sadly lost the roll :(

Stage 1 tactics

I just first want to say, please post your comments if you wish!

If what i'm saying here is tripe, I would like to know ;)

Not a dictatorship, just a flustered guildie lol

I apologise in advance for the rather poor sketch, but i had to draw my own to explain this.

We had some differences of opinion on how to do the first stage of Malygos last night, and while I agree that everyone should give suggestions a chance, on occasions, logic can remove the need to attempt a bad idea.

If Malygos is on the edge of the disk, and as far away from the on-coming spark as possible (See 'Good' spark on left diagram) then we can kill the spark in the centre, with all the DPS, and not only prevent him from getting the spark, but also gain the DPS buff.

If we were to remain in that one spot though, as some suggested last night, then the 'Bad' spark (seen top left of the left diagram) would need to be Death Gripped away at great range.

And what if we don't have a Death Knight

And what if it's the spark on the top right?

Therefore, any possition around the outside is not a good location for him, because there is always the potential a spark will form behind him.

Ok, so giving the idea of tanking him in one place a chance..

We're left with one option. Tank him in the middle.

But from the right diagram, you can see that all the sparks end up scattered all round the disc. There's no location around him that is best to stack the sparks, because again we have the problem of him being inbetween a spark and us, and we cant put it in the centre when he's there because of-course he'll absorb it. 

So we cant get our maximum damage buff up as a result.

This could possibly be an option for an extremely high DPS group, but I don't believe we're there yet :)

The only viable and workable solution is by moving him to the edge furthest away from an on-coming spark, and killing the spark in the centre of the room so that the ranged DPS can get maximum damage! ^_^

This requires him to be moved around the outside at all times.

When you think about it, this is kind of a mix between Unub'Rekhan and Grand Widdow Faerlina. I honestly reckon thats what they're doing here, Naxx is teaching us how to do the bigger fights ^_^

Eye of Eternity - Malygos

Breaking new ground!...

Well, although we took out the first boss of the Millitary wing, Instructor Razuvious, we thought it wise to leave Gothik and the 4 Horsemen for the end.

Having previously shown Patchwerk why he (and his little brother Meathook) held no sway over us, we took him down with ease.

...and we then moved onto Grobbulus.

What a sticky chap he is...hmm, sticky floor too. The filthy chump gave us his best, but we bested him all the same, and gained.

We took down Gluth with 9 of us.. how so you may ask?

We lost a tank (namely me Obsidanse) right at the start!

And if there was ever anyone left who doubted Sugar and Trulsans healing, and Stantz tanking, then eat your words sir!

On two seperate occasions, Stantz received a 10 stack of Gluth's debuff (100% less healing!!) and lived to tell the tale :)

An incredible job pulling the Zombie Chow by Taai in particular, but an incredible display from everyone there.

Raid tips..Heigan the Unclean's Dancefloor.

Hey Guys!
I need you all to familiarise yourself with this video guys (HEIGAN - TANKSPOT). It's a very helpful walk through the pattern of Heigans dance, where the safe zones are, and also some good tips for atitude when playing this boss.
One or two usefull tips specifically for healers and tanks too :)

Also, there's a nifty flash animation of the pattern HERE (although it may be slightly fast lol)

We need everyone to do a PrintScreen of their Character selection screen for each of their toons in the guild... just like this one! ...

You can do this by hitting the "PrtScn" button, just above the "Backspace" key on a standard keyboard.

It will automatically take a screenshot, and save the file inside you World of Warcraft files, within the folder "Screenshots".

Obsidian Sanctum - Full Guild Run!

Obsidanse, Vetenari, Sugarpuffs, Trulsan, Vebolina, Shisukii, Ernestine, Nellis, Elementman and Flowermoon made Still Alive history last night! We completed the Obsidian Sanctum entirely un-aided by outside players ^_^

We started out with Vetle in the team, and after clearing the 3 Drakes and trying our very first guild attempt (33% health on the boss!) he sadly had to leave us.

Larandriell replaced him, and with Obsidanse, Vetenari, Sugarpuffs, Trulsan, Nellis (Fimro's Alt Pally), Ernestine, Vebolina, Flowermoon and Suddrik... we showed Sartharion the true meaning of pain!

Firstly, A very warm welcome to Nika, Tempra's son :)

As we only had 1 Tank for the fight, we gave Patchwerk one try and decided to concede (Temporal!) defeat.

We moved onto the Plague wing, and unfortunately lost Ernestine at this point. We 9 manned our way down to the first Boss, and Elementman joined the cause, and re-joined the guild too!

Noth the Plaguebringer was abley dispatched by Sugarpuffs, Trulsan, Vetenari, Elementman, Larandriell,  Vebolina, Fimro, Tempra, Suddrik and Obsidanse!

Heigan's Safety dance, however, had us foxed. We gave it about 5 tries, before agreeing to save that for another day.
